Application for :iconpocket-felines:!

I wanted to try and make a pokecat that was in contact with humans, seeing as a lot of pokecat culture is drawn from them. Bastion isn't on good terms with humans, but he does have a loose grasp of their society more than other pokecats might. Think of him as being like an urban stray cat compared to, say, the forest cats in Warriors or something.

Name:
Bastion
Nicknames: Bast, Squishy
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Gay, but aromantic
Species (Pokemon): Goomy
Type: Dragon
Age: 26
Rank: Rocket Grunt
Housing #: Rocket Room 21
Moveset: Bubble / Absorb / Protect / Bide
Ability: Sap Sipper (All Grass-type moves are x0 against him.)
Held Item: Bright Powder (Raises his evasion by 10%.)
Other Notes: Bastion was born nearly-blind; all he can make out of his surroundings are vague coloured blobs. As such, he usually keeps his eyes closed due to seeing his eyesight as being unreliable anyway. // Any green bits on him are somewhat sticky to the touch. He can actually stick to some surfaces, which helps with climbing. // He has a slight accent that he usually manages to keep hidden but tends to slip out when speaking to other Kalos pokecats.

Personality: [Calm] / [Casual] / [Clever] / [Nonviolent] / [Amicable] / [Detached]
Bullet; Green Calm: "It isn't something worth getting worked up over, is it?" / It would take something extreme to get Bastion riled up. Not that he doesn't have a temper, but the fuse to it is immensely long. A few things can get a snippy response from him, however: Bastion dislikes comments about his blindness, and has very little patience for those with more brawn than brains. He approaches every situation with a reasonable mindset, and to some may appear detached  from it.
Bullet; Green Casual: "Not sure what the problem here is-- it all looks good to me." / Somewhat part of the above. Bastion is very relaxed and does things at his own pace. He rarely considers things urgent. Not that he's lazy, although most would consider him such; he views it unnecessary to waste energy by rushing around everywhere. Bast would prefer to spend his energy on other things. When dealing with his underlings, he can be surprisingly laidback and even cheerful... which is a stark contrast to the ulterior motives and threats he likely has hidden underneath when he reaches out to them.
Bullet; Green Clever: "I know what makes him tick. Give me five minutes and he'll be out of our way." / Despite his calm personality and cute appearance, Bastion is incredibly smart and knows exactly what he needs to do to get the best results with minimal effort. His preferred method of mayhem is setting things into motion through misinformation or "misplacing" things and sitting back to watch things escalate on their own. As such, Bastion does prefer the misconception that he's harmless: it lets him slip by easier. He's also an expert at manipulating people; his friendly demeanor allows him to learn a lot about people, which he can easily weaponize against them.
Bullet; Green Nonviolent: "Stop that. The pavement doesn't need any more blood on it."/ As mentioned, Bastion dislikes matter over mind. He stays away from conflict, either verbal or physical, and may even try to defuse the situation (as long as he's able to escape any possible retaliation scot-free). For him, brute force might as well not even be an option to consider. If a confrontation starts, he's more often than not the one to intervene and work towards a more peaceful solution. This doesn't mean that he isn't cruel, though, he just prefers doing it without blood being shed. The scent of blood makes him physically ill, and he hates the idea of pokecats dying... not because of morals or any attachments he may have, but because he sees it as a complete waste.
Bullet; Green Amicable: "Hi there. I don't think we've met before; how about we go down to the cafe and get to know each other?" / Bastion may be a higher-up of the most dangerous faction on the island, but that doesn't mean he has to be on bad terms with everyone-- every good Rocket has an alibi and a friend to defend them, and any information gained through casual conversation can come in handy. Bastion acts polite and friendly to everyone he encounters, even Rangers (if they don't immediately catch on to who he's aligned with). He can even be quite helpful, and if the entire island is in danger he wouldn't hesitate to step forward for the good of pokecat-kind... after all, he's a pokecat himself, and he'd rather not die horribly.
Bullet; Green Detached: "What, Luna is injured? ...It's not my problem, and she can handle herself. Let me know when you have something actually useful to tell me." / Bastion does not connect with other pokecats, even his own family and teammates. He has no strong attachment to anyone, and doesn't think it likely or necessary for one to develop; in his own words, he only makes allegiances, and is even willing to break those off at a drop of a hat. He may be friendly towards others, as mentioned before, but an actual friendship would probably be rather one-sided, and if another pokecat was in trouble he likely wouldn't raise a paw to help unless cornered into it. It's not even a problem of narcissism, or that he sees other pokecats as lesser than him... he just views everything as worthless to devote energy to.

Likes: Doing things at his own pace, roaming freely, Oran berries, his hat, hoarding things, rain, the colour green
Neutral to: Other pokecats, Rangers, his family, basically anything
Dislikes: Being watched, his near-blindness being pointed out, violence, people getting too close to him physically or emotionally, loud noises, humans, being told what to do
Phobias: Being stared at (scopopobia)

A little background info:

Bullet; GreenKalosBullet; Green
Bastion left his family behind long before the exodus, and cares little if they made it with him. He grew up with no attachment to them, and roamed Kalos at a young age with no clear direction in mind. As such, Bastion spent a few years mingling with different groups and, as always, moving on and breaking ties. He cared little for what was going on around him. Eventually he even spread his search out into the human cities, where pokecats were less than welcome, and made a habit of stealing things and causing chaos in ways that left them baffled and afraid. He grew proud of his accomplishments, but never pushed his luck; however, his strange behaviour led to him being mistrusted by his kind as rumors spread. After all, what kind of pokecat was suicidal enough to play chicken with the very species that would hunt them down if they knew they were there?
Then came the discovery. Bastion had been unbothered by humankind, due to being well-accustomed to sneaking through alleyways and avoiding others, but unrest had been growing and even he had begun to feel a sense of unease. With that worry in his mind, he headed home to where the Kalos pokecats had their remaining settlements, and was unfortunate enough to be there when human Trainers investigating the mysterious pokemon-like tracks in the area-- some of which were likely Bastion's own-- stumbled upon their haven.
The resulting skirmish had been awful. Bastion had escaped to live another day, but the pokecats were now on the move as more and more humans came to chase them out. It wasn't long before they were pushed to the very edges of Kalos, and with no other options left they had to swim. With deep regrets, Bastion set sail with the others to find a new home and a new life.

A Kalos cat would have to completely lose their mind to join the very organization that had manipulated the Cianwood cats into attempting to kill them, but Bastion saw things in a different light. The war had been the perfect chaos, set off by the most beautiful form of trickery that he could only aspire to cause. And besides, his little detour with Nicodemus had allowed him to sidestep the actual battle, so he came out of it completely unharmed.
Bastion had information no other pokecat had, however. He knew how humans worked more than any other, due to living alongside them in their shadows for months, and that had apparently enough to catch Ace's attention. To his pleasure, he was accepted into the organization as an Executive. Bastion now lives to use his smarts and trickery to add a heavy dose of chaos into the lives of the Cianwood pokecats for his own amusement; Ace's goals are unimportant to him. All that matters is that disorder is spread, and he is more than willing to devote himself to that.

Relationships:
Bullet; Red Dislikes
Bullet; White
Neutral
Bullet; Orange Acquaintance
Bullet; Purple Friend
Bullet; Blue Best friend
Bullet; Green Crush
Bullet; Pink In love with
Bullet; Black Rival
Bullet; Yellow Respects
Deceased

Bullet; White Bastion's family: "What, my parents? They don't matter to me anymore. Why dredge up things from the past?" / Bastion abandoned them when he was little, and knows nothing about where they are now or if they survived. If he knew that they didn't, he likely wouldn't care.
Bullet; White Kalos pokecats: "It's interesting how we've managed to adapt so quickly, but... beyond that, I'm not sure how this is related to me." / Due to his unusual habits and his general detachment from his own kind, Bastion never really made an effort to form friendships with the other escapees. This will probably change now that they're all together in Cianwood.
Bullet; Yellow Bullet; Red Haven: "She saved my life, and I owe her for that, but that's where it ends." / Bastion isn't sure how to feel about Haven aligning so quickly with the pokecats that tried to kill them over a minor misunderstanding, but despite his feelings about that she did save his life.
Bullet; Orange Nicodemus: "He's... intriguing, I'll give him that." / Bastion's friendliness towards him is mostly a facade, but he does find him interesting and wouldn't mind hanging around him more, and it was thanks to their little adventure out into the fields that Bastion was able to stay out of the war. He's been toying around with paying him another visit... perhaps without an ulterior motive driving his actions, this time.
Bullet; Red Briinah: "She's a brat, and I wouldn't trust her with her own life... but her cousin is good incentive to get her working." / Bastion cares little about his fellow Kalos pokecats, but Briinah is unfortunate to be actively looked down and disliked by him. He does humor her sometimes, but usually he's inwardly frustrated about her due to her temper and has a low opinion of violent pokecats to begin with. As an Executive, he's taken a special interest in her seeing as she's now his underling, and there's a small chance of his opinion of her swinging towards positive...
Bullet; Yellow Ace: "She's absolutely glorious. So much devastation caused by just a few spoken lines... It's beautiful." / Bastion adores Ace. One would expect him to refuse to side with the pokecat that had sparked the war, but he instead sees her as everything he aspires to be. In his eyes, the potential murder is a minor detail compared to the wonderful chain reaction she created with just a few words. He will work hard to prove to her that he deserves his title as Executive... even if he is more likely to find a more subtle route, or to try and find loopholes in her words.
Bullet; Orange Luna: "What, her? ...We'll see." / Bastion's first impressions of his fellow Executive are something he's keeping secret so far, and only time will tell how he feels about her.
Bullet; Orange Ash: "Hm." / Like Luna, Bastion is still forming opinions about the other Executive.
Bullet; Orange Bartholomew: "I'm still not sure what exactly Luna sees in Cheshire, but they've proven that there's skills behind that pretty face." / Bastion's a little put-off by Bart's admiration of him, but sees potential in them and is willing to work with them.

RP example:
Bastion slipped out of the Team Rocket hideout like a ghost and stretched in the dim sunlight. It was dawn: far too early for most pokecats to be awake, but the perfect time for him to make his way around without encountering any trouble. He hummed as his paws took him down the soon-to-be familiar path to town. The air smelled of coming spring, and a warm breeze ruffled his short fur. He was glad for the season changing; most other pokecats had a thick coat of fur to keep them warm, but Bastion's light fur was no help in keeping the cold out.
Ah, the town square. Unfamiliar scents reached him (all faded, but would likely grow stronger as it became more active in the day) and he paused for a moment to identify if it was anyone he recognized. These island pokecats bothered him, and he scrunched up his face in distaste as he couldn't pick out anything familiar. At least it meant no one would recognize him either; to them, he was a total stranger, and for that Bastion was pleased. It was easier to get away if no one knew enough about you to match a name to your face.
